Vaclav Smil – Science, A Co-operative Race

2000
Presented By: Vaclav Smil

Vaclav Smil, the Czech-Canadian scientist known for his interdisciplinary research in the fields of energy, environmental and population change, joined us for the first edition of ideacity in 2000 – then called TEDcity. In this Talk, he speaks passionately about how progress is really a co-operative race to unveil new technologies and discoveries, and that the scientific community’s ‘rock stars’ often have shadow figures who independently arrived at the same conclusions.
