Susanne Wiigh-Mäsak

Susanne Wiigh-Mäsak is a Swedish biologist, specializing in Marine Biology, who has discovered the secret to life after death. Her work focuses on how we are able to co-exist and live in tune with nature long after our mortal departure from this earth.

Susanne graduated from the University of Gothenberg in 1979, and began teaching courses in ecological cultivation and composting. Her ecologically-approved vegetable garden grew along with her insights into the natural ecological cycle, of which organic life is a part, The three principles: mulching, rotting and burning, were constant elements in her composting courses, along with the knowledge that humans were not being given the opportunity to be a part of the ecological cycle with today’s traditional forms of burials. Her extensive research in the field led her to discover an environmentally friendly form of burial that takes into consideration the natural decomposition of the body.

Susanne has developed a formula where, after death, bodies are freeze-dried, rendered into an organic powder and buried with the seed of a tree or a bush. The new plant reminds of our symbiotic relationship with the earth and it stands as a symbol of the person deceased. Her amazing discovery prompted her to create Promesa Organic AB, the first facility of its kind to offer ecological burial as an alternative to today’s traditional forms. It has become a national form of burial in Sweden.
