Richard Preston’s critically and commercially acclaimed books have cemented his status as a first-rate investigative journalist and gifted storyteller, as well as put him in the forefront of the emerging diseases and biotechnology arenas.

He is the bestselling author of eight books, including The Hot Zone and The Wild Trees, and most recently Panic in Level 4. He is a regular contributor to The New Yorker, and has won numerous awards including the AAAS-Westinghouse Award and the McDermott Award in the Arts from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is the only non-medical doctor ever to receive the Champion of Prevention Award from the Centers for Disease Control. As a result of his work and scientific contributions, an asteroid has been named “Preston.” The Preston asteroid is a lump of rock three miles wide, which will someday collide with Mars, causing an explosion visible throughout the solar system. Richard lives near New York City
