Michael Rae is research assistant to Dr. Aubrey de Grey, working on the SENS platform (Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence) for radical anti-aging biomedicine, and co-author of the popular SENS book Ending Aging and other works of accessible science.

Between 1999 and early 2005, he worked in research and development in the neutraceutical industry, where he was instrumental in shifting company focus into novel molecules with the potential to impact primary and secondary aging. Rae is the author of five scientific articles and commentaries in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is a former Board Member of the Calorie Restriction Society, a main contributor to the Society’s ‘How-To Guide’, and core scientific investigator with the CR Society Cohort Study, which seeks to document the feasibility of calorie restriction in humans and the potential human translatability of the anti-aging effects observed in laboratory organisms.
