Douglas Coupland
Douglas Coupland was born in 1961 on a Canadian Armed Forces base in Germany. He is a novelist with eight books published in 28 languages.
With his first novel, Generation X: Tales For an Accelerated Culture (1991), Coupland established himself as a major author of mass culture writing. The novel defined a generation for which Coupland became unofficial spokesperson. His subsequent works explore, with considerable humour, the complexities of pop culture and web technology in the contemporary world, experimenting with various genres and new forms in novel-writing.
Coupland has become known for his “anti-slacker” work ethic, and has produced over 13 novels, 7 works of non-fiction and a collection of short stories. In recent years Coupland has been using his art school and industrial experiences to create art installations, furniture and clothing, all of which are sold and exhibited globally.
