Calling all 2010 conference idealists -

Hello everyone! My name is Nicole Litmola and for those I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, may I introduce myself as one of the Conference Managers at Moses Znaimer's IdeaCity. It's hard to believe >ideaCity10 is right around the corner, yet here we are less than a week away. If you have received this letter, it's because you are on our confirmed list to attend.

This June's conference will mark the beginning of ideaCity's second decade as Canada's premier meeting of the minds and we couldn't be more excited to share this milestone with all of you!

In true ideaCity- style, you can be sure that our team has lined up some mind-bending presenters to help us stretch our craniums and who will leave you with a rejuvenated sense of the world around you. We are all thrilled to have you join us at ideaCity10 and on behalf of my team I extend a warm welcome.

Pre-Register Early - Tuesday June 15th, 5:30pm - 8:00pm

To make your experience even more enjoyable, it's highly recommended that you attend our pre-registration session. As a special incentive, anyone who attends pre-registration will be entered in a draw for a chance to win one of the following exclusive prizes:

  • One pair of tickets to the "Light Classics Series" provided by the TSO ($192 value)
  • One official Raptor's Jersey, autographed by Andrea Bargnani (priceless)
  • One $500 Gift Certificate to Ste. Anne's Country Inn & Spa in Grafton, ON
  • One Fairmont "Shop with Chef" package, including a one night stay valued at over $600
  • One Full Conference Pass to ideaCity11 ($4,000 value)

On the opening morning of the conference, I can always spot those that have pre-registered by the relaxed expressions on their faces as they serenely sip hot java courtesy of the Royal Conservatory during regular registration time.

Pre-registration will be hosted between 5:30pm and 8:00pm on the evening of Tuesday, June 15 at Koerner Hall, 273 Bloor Street West. We strongly encourage you to attend the pre-registration session. Attending will ensure your registration goes quickly and smoothly and will maximize the amount of time you have to relax, mingle and converge with fellow ideaCity attendees and presenters. Please remember to bring photo ID when registering as only you can pick up your pass.

Registration/Venue

Where to Go:

Registration will be held at this year's conference venue, Koerner Hall. Located at 273 Bloor St West, Koerner Hall is the heart of Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music. When you arrive, please use the main box-office entrance located on Bloor St, west of the ROM. For registration, head past the ticket booth and up the stairs to the ideaCity registration stations. If you have any questions, or aren't sure where to go just look for our 2010 volunteer team in the red ideaCity shirts, they will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Registration will be divided alphabetically and we ask that you queue at the registration desk that corresponds to your last name. Please remember to bring photo ID. We ask that you arrive for registration at 7:30am on the morning that you will be attending the conference. The conference begins at 8:30am sharp, and arriving early will ensure your registration will be expedited smoothly. This will also give you enough time to enjoy a delicious breakfast provided Daniel et Daniel, familiarize yourself with the venue and meet some fellow ideaCity attendees and presenters.

Wondering what to do about Lunch?

There are 3 breaks during each of the day's events; 2 Conversation breaks sponsored by Panasonic, featuring deliciously catered morsels by Daniel et Daniel, as well as a one hour and fifteen minute lunch break. Although lunch is not catered on-site, ideaCity has partnered with a few local businesses that will be offering special idealist discounts:

  • Show your ideaCity badge at Blu Ristorante & Lounge at 17A Yorkville Ave. and receive 20% off your order.
  • Babaluu Supperclub at 136 Yorkville Ave. will be discounting all idealist checks by 20%
  • Go Greek at Mykonos Mediterranean Grill, 881 Yonge St, and get 15% off your order
  • The Indigo Masala Room will be serving fine Indian cuisine for 20% off to all idealists at 137 Avenue Rd.

Ask the Oracle

Oracles answer questions that nobody knows the answer to, like "What can we do to save the human race from extinction?" Lucky for our 2010 ideaCity attendees, we will have our very own Oracle live and on-stage taking all of your burning questions. Humorist, speaker, radio commentator, Harvard grad Emily Levine combines two outstanding talents: 1) she connects big ideas with our everyday lives -- the Milky Way with the Beltway, the larger universe with the smaller universes of home, workplace and market; and 2) she makes it funny. Do you have a question for the Oracle? Send your mind-bending queries to info@ideacityonline.com, and you just might find the answer that you're looking for.

The 2010 ideaCity agenda has officially been released online. Plan ahead to make the most of your ideaCity10 experience.

If you have any other questions, please check out the FAQ section of our website or feel free to contact me via the methods below.

Whether you are a full pass or day pass holder, mark your calendar for June 16, 17 and 18, 2010, and be prepared for an invigorating experience! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Best,
Nicole Litmola
